“I thank Alberto Gonzales for his public service and wish him well in his future endeavors. It is my hope that whomever President Bush selects as the next Attorney General, he or she is not subjected to the same poisonous partisanship that we’ve sadly grown accustomed to over the past eight months.”

“I welcome the news that Iraqi leaders have taken steps to reach consensus on issues critical to the stability and future governance of Iraq. In the past few weeks we’ve heard reports from Iraq that our brave troops are succeeding in providing the security that General Petraeus’ mission was designed to provide. Iraqi leaders must take this opportunity to make tough decisions like the ones they made yesterday.”

“Justice McAnulty was a loving father, a caring husband and wonderful judge. His devotion to public service was admirable and our Commonwealth is richer for his efforts. While he will be remembered for his historic service on the Kentucky Supreme Court, I will recall his gentle nature and delightful sense of humor. My prayers are with his family during this time.”
