‘I expect that our Turkish allies will listen carefully to the anger from Washington, welcome our Vice President, and take steps to repair our important relationship. It would be a tragedy for both of our nations if Turkey’s escalation in Syria imperils our common fight against ISIS and embolden traditional adversaries like Iran and Russia. This would be bad for U.S. interests, but it would be terrible for Turkey.’

Senator McConnell Helps Secure Federal Grant for Marshall County Infrastructure

Senate Majority Leader proud to ‘deliver results for Kentucky’

October 15, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced today the Marshall County Fiscal Court was awarded a $415,456 competitive federal grant from the Delta Regional Authority’s (DRA) Community Infrastructure Fund. The county plans to use the federal resources to construct left-turn lanes on U.S. 641 serving the Southwest One Industrial Park.

Senator McConnell contacted the DRA in support of his constituents’ federal grant application. The added lanes will bolster safe access for commercial freight traffic, while encouraging economic development and attracting new investment into Marshall County.

“Kentucky is open for business, and I was proud to help Judge Executive Kevin Neal bring these federal resources to Western Kentucky and draw future investment into this community,” said Senator McConnell. “As Senate Majority Leader, it’s my responsibility to deliver results for Kentucky like this one that can support Marshall County’s economic activity and help encourage new growth.”

“We extend our gratitude to the Delta Regional Authority for the Southwest One Road Project grant award to the Marshall County Fiscal Court,” said Marshall County Judge Executive Kevin Neal. “It is thanks to the incredible leadership of Governor Matt Bevin, Senator Mitch McConnell and Federal Co-Chairman Chris Caldwell that these monies will have an extraordinary impact on Marshall County’s critical infrastructure and future economic development.”
