LOUISVILLE, KY – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made the following statement today on the passing of former State Senator Ray B. White:

“I was saddened to hear of the passing of my friend, former Senator Ray B. White. In a lifetime full of contributions to our Commonwealth, Ray embodied the values of public service and respect. The people of South Central Kentucky benefited from Ray’s leadership in the state Senate, his 50-plus years of practicing law, and his mentorship of the next generation at Western Kentucky University. I know that I am better because of his impact. Elaine and I extend our sincere condolences to Ray’s children, his friends, and the Bowling Green community he so loved.”

‘So I am grateful and relieved that Chairman Shelby, Senator Leahy, and colleagues of ours including Senators Perdue, Isakson, Scott, Rubio, Ernst, Thune, Blunt, Sasse and others have brought us to this point with their tireless work on this subject. And I am grateful to the president for his leadership and his focus on getting an outcome. I’m glad we have passed this legislation and sent it on to the House. And I urge our colleagues over in the House to support it.’
