‘Today, the Senate will vote to begin consideration of S. 2155, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act. This bill recognizes a simple truth: Small community banks and main-street credit unions are not the same as the multi-trillion-dollar banks on Wall Street. A simple enough observation, but at present, our laws fail to account for it.’

WASHINGTON, D.C.U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:

“Today, tomorrow, and always, Israel’s beacon of democracy will continue to shine through the darkness. And America will be right there, standing proudly alongside our friends. Thank you for coming to the Capitol today, Mr. Prime Minister.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced today the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded $7.99 million in funding to the City of Frankfort for infrastructure improvements along its Second Street Corridor (U.S. 60).

Senator McConnell contacted DOT on behalf of his constituents regarding the grant application, and he met with local officials last year to discuss the project. The federal funding is from DOT’s Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery program (TIGER).

The competitive TIGER grant will be used to reconstruct the Second Street Corridor and will make it more accessible for seniors and persons with disabilities. It will allow for sidewalk construction and expansion, installation of bike lanes, traffic signal replacement and expand access to public transportation.

“This is great news for the community, and I was pleased to work with local officials on this important transportation project," Senator McConnell said. "I heard from a number of constituents that this project will provide much-needed transportation improvements for residents in this South Frankfort neighborhood. Local officials also informed me that these improvements will enhance safety for children who attend a local elementary school and cross the Second Street Corridor each morning.”

Cindy Steinhauser, the City Manager for the City of Frankfort, said, “We are extremely grateful to Senator McConnell for his efforts to secure a TIGER grant for the city of Frankfort, the capital of Kentucky. This grant will help revitalize an important corridor in our community, creating both new economic opportunities for businesses while also increasing safety for our children who attend school along the corridor.  The city of Frankfort is poised for an economic renaissance and these TIGER funds are a critical part of that plan.”
