WASHINGTONThis afternoon, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement.

"We have important work to do, and Democratic leaders have continually found new excuses not to meet with the administration to discuss these issues. Democrats are putting government operations, particularly resources for our men and women on the battlefield, at great risk by pulling these antics. There is a meeting at the White House this afternoon, and if Democrats want to reach an agreement, they will be there."

‘Later today, the Senate will consider two more talented nominees to the federal judiciary. First, we will vote to confirm the nomination of Dabney Friedrich to serve as a district court judge for the District of Columbia. Next, we will vote to advance the nomination of an exceptionally well-qualified nominee to the federal judiciary, Gregory Katsas to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.’
‘Today with House passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, we are one big step closer to putting more money in the pockets of millions of struggling American families so they can pay their bills, save for their future and invest for their children. I commend Speaker Paul Ryan, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady and all the members of the House who have worked tirelessly to get this critical bill through their chamber.’
