‘The Most Important Veteran in My Life’

'The Greatest Generation fought a war that had to be fought, and had they not won it, we wouldn’t have the kind of country we have today.'

November 10, 2017

‘The Greatest Generation fought a war that had to be fought, and had they not won it, we wouldn’t have the kind of country we have today. All of our servicemembers now, are volunteers, they volunteered to put their lives in danger and need to be well taken care of. Happy Veterans Day, particularly to all those in Kentucky.’

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement today following the Senate confirmation of Robert Duncan, Jr. of Kentucky to serve as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky:

“I congratulate Robert Duncan, Jr. on his confirmation as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Robert will use his experience prosecuting drug crimes to help communities in our state combat the heroin and prescription drug epidemic. I look forward to his leadership in the law enforcement community, and I commend his willingness to serve our Commonwealth and our nation.”

‘When a law enforcement officer walks out the door, they never know for sure what a day could bring. Neither do their families. And yet, they walk out the door just the same. Because, for them, what they do here is more than just a job or a career — it’s a calling. We are so grateful that they do.’
