WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement today regarding the passing of Bill Swope:

“The Commonwealth suffered a great loss with the passing of my dear friend, Bill Swope. Overcoming every obstacle, Bill grew his first business venture in Winchester into the Swope Family of Dealerships that has sold hundreds of thousands of automobiles over the course of six decades. Today, the second and third generations of Swopes continue to build upon the strong foundation that Bill laid. A patriotic member of the Greatest Generation, Bill’s successes extended past his work into a life of devoted faith and consistent community service.

“The Swope family has left an indelible legacy on the Commonwealth of Kentucky, creating an example for us all to follow. Bill’s life of achievement and compassion will not soon be forgotten. Elaine and I send our deepest condolences to his family – especially Bill’s children – and to all who were lucky enough to call him a friend.”
